Farm City Chautauqua Launch Party
Green Edge NYC to participate in Farm City Chautauqua
WHAT: Chautauqua aims to create community through food (and vice versa).
The Farm City Chautauqua assembles a series of innovative and diverse events and exhibitions.
The Farm City Chautauqua will run from February through July 2011, beginning on Tuesday, February 1, 2011. A full calendar will be distributed at the launch.
The Chautauqua happens at 61 Local, a new venue dedicated to locally-crafted food and the people who make it.
Upcoming events include Communal Table’s “Sing for Your Supper”; Culinary Historians’ “Starving the South”; Community Cooking Club’s artfully-enhanced dinners; Artist Chloe Bass’ “Process Dinner”; “The Sustainability Speakers Series” features great innovative ideas by Green Edge Collaborative; a monthly Farm City Book Club and an interactive installation called “Tracing Trash.”
Food: 61 Local serves 14 local beers, kombuchas and wines all on tap will be available for tasting along with a sampling of seasonal small plates.
Details of upcoming events will be available at the Launch Party
History: In the 19th Century, “Chautauqua Assemblies” provided education and culture to isolated American farm communities. Our urban Chautauqua revives this tradition for city dwellers -- building connections around food via taste, talk, display & ritual.
