SUMMARY:Screening: THE END OF THE LINE
DESCRIPTION:THE END OF THE LINE\nGreen Edge NYC and Brooklyn Green Tea
m partner with Green Spaces for March Film Screening\n\n\n\"The End of
the Line,\" the first major feature documentary film revealing the im
pact of overfishing on our oceans, had its world premiere at the Sunda
nce Film Festival in January 2009. The film examines the imminent exti
nction of bluefin tuna and other popular seafood favorites; the impact
on marine life resulting in huge overpopulation of jellyfish; and the
profound implications of a future world with no fish that would bring
certain mass starvation. \"The End of the Line\" points to solutions
that are simple and doable, but political will and activism are crucia
l to solve this international problem.\n\nFollowing the screening will
be a discussion. Speakers include:\nJune Russell is the Farm Inspecti
ons Manager for Greenmarket, GrowNYC.\nJune has been in the food busin
ess for the past twenty years working in numerous capacities from bake
r to chef to café and bar manager. June came to Greenmarket in 2004,
for the last three years she has been the organization's Farm Inspecti
ons Manager and has traveled extensively within the region, visiting p
roducer farms and production facilities that range from fruit orchards
in the Finger Lakes to Ocean Fishers from Long Island.\n\nAndrianna N
atsoulas is the Markets Coordinator for the Northwestern Atlantic Mari
ne Alliance\nAndrianna has been an environmental and social justice ac
tivist for nearly two decades. She began her fisheries career by surve
ying local fishing cooperatives to develop co-management options in th
e United Kingdom. Since then, she has organized around fisheries polic
ies, marine conservation and community empowerment in different capaci
ties and venues. Recently, she developed and directed a fisheries camp
aign at Food & Water Watch that fought fisheries privatization, protec
ted consumer rights and challenged destructive aquaculture initiatives
.\n\nWine will be served and there will be an opportunity for networki
ng before and after the film.\n\nProceeds from the screening will bene
fit Northwest Atlantic Marine Alliance\nThe Northwest Atlantic Marine
Alliance’s mission is to restore and enhance an enduring marine syst
em supporting a healthy diversity and an abundance of marine life and
 human uses through a self-organizing and self-governing organization.\
n\nSuggested Donation: $15\n\n\nBrooklyn Green Team is a grassroots gr
oup of green \"superheroes\" dedicated to reducing their negative impa
ct on the environment and inspiring others to do so through creative e
 co-challenges, volunteer activities, and their blog.\n\nGreen Spacesâ€
™ vision is to forward the sustainability movement globally through wi
despread local hubs that incubate environmental entrepreneurs. As a pl
atform for \"social change\", Green Spaces not only thrives as a stomp
ing grounds for the city’s cutting edge entrepreneurs, but it spurs
connections among companies who share a passion for sustainable and et
hical business and lifestyle. To learn more.\n\nFor more information v
