Slow U: Breaking Bread
Greenmarket's June Russell joins Jessamyn Waldman, founder of Hot Bread Kitchen, and Lynne Christy Anderson, author of "Breaking Bread: Recipes and Stories from Immigrant Kitchens," to discuss the steps Greenmarket is taking to restore NYS wheat production by fostering relationships between City bakers and upstate farmers and millers producing heirloom, organic wheat, spelt, corn, and flour.
You will enjoy a reading from "Breaking Bread" and a lively discussion on transplanting traditional old-country recipes to a new land while tasting Jessamyn's breads accompanied by NYS wine and American farmstead and artisan cheeses. Autographed copies of "Breaking Bread" will be available.
COST: $25 members $35 non-members
Proceeds from this event will benefit the Slow Food NYC Harvest Time in Schools and Neighborhood Farms programs.
