"Composting in the City? Yes We Can!"
The average New York City household discards two pounds of organic waste each day—more than a million tons of organic material a year! Composting is one of the most direct, accessible ways to reduce the amount of garbage you produce and we’ll even teach you how you can do it in your apartment!
Building a greener New York is the theme of the City University’s third annual Governors Island Science, Art Exhibition and Lecture Series: Sustainable CUNY/Sustainable NYC, which will be held each Saturday from June 7th through August 30th.
All lectures are free and begin at 12:30 PM in Pershing Hall, a two-minute walk from the ferry terminal on Governors Island. The free ferry leaves from Battery Maritime Building, Slip 7 directly east of the Staten Island Ferry Terminal. There are a number of subway stops near the Maritime Building (#1, 4, 5, R, W).
