What's a PermaYogi?
I study complete sustainability involving not only the environment, but of our communities, minds and bodies.
I am working on a project to create a sustainable collective that will incorporate residential space, a rooftop farm, offices, and a community center with sustainable practices. Email me at permayogi@gmail.com to be added to our mailing list.
PermaCulture - Working towards creating sustainable food systems and eliminating the chain of waste, creating a cycle of inputs and outputs that feed back into themselves and build redundancy reducing the need for human intervention in food production, building design, and meeting other human needs by working with nature instead of against her.
Yoga - Developing a comprehensive healthy lifestyle based on
Patanjali's 8 Limbs of Yoga that works towards greater enjoyment of life through meditation, physical practice of Asanas, Ayurvedic nutrition, volunteerism and charity.
Plant-based Diet - Our diets have the biggest environmental impact of anything we do, including driving. By changing the foundation of our diet to be built on plants instead of animal products and processed foods, we can decrease our "carbon footprint" to a fraction of that compared to the modern conventional diet. As I have discovered, what is better for the planet is also better for people. Together, we can design a conscientious diet for yourself and your loved ones that meets all of your nutritional needs without expensive supplements.
I have spent several years developing this philosophy and now I want to share it with the world. If you are interested in learning more, please contact me at PermaYogi@gmail.com for private or group consultations and classes about:
Vinyasa Yoga
Meditation
Wholistic Nutrition
Vegan/Live-Foods Preparation
Love, light, and Namaste,

I just read your comment on a few of the group sites and wanted to follow up with you personally about your idea for the cafe/community center. It's wild and wonderful to hear and see that so many people also share my dream and I've been developing a very similar, if not identical, business plan (mostly conceptually right now) and would love to talk to you about it! My first goal is to research spaces- not necessarily looking to build from the ground up but restoring or working with an existing space to make it LEEDS certified. Of course, a backyard and rooftop for farming is a must.
Right now I'm working for a non-profit (New York Restoration Project) that runs around 60 community gardens in the city. (as well co-running MillionTreesNYC with the city, which is what most people are familiar with since it has quite an impressive ad campaign) Anyway- we do have one garden that has a very active permaculture group in BedStuy and I'm hoping to incorporate some permaculture ideals into this little one that I'm a part of in Park Slope/Gowanus. I've had just very basic intro experience with permaculture (I worked at an permaculture education center in Argentina for a month) but am incredibly fascinated and always eager to learn more.
It'd be great to find a time to meet up and chat in person so hope to hear from you soon!
