Thanks,
I would really want to go, but this Friday is not good for me. The following Friday I'm on break, so that could work or maybe one of the days of the break.
Ha!
You can certainly pay in installments-- 0 today, 0 next week and so forth.
There's a calendar of events, most of which happen far from this neighborhood. You're welcome to check it out: http://freegan.info/?page_id=43 It's also worth checking out the info on the rest of the site; correspondence school!
If you want to do something in this neighborhood, I owe Micki an informal "trash tour" in the neighborhood, and we could do it together if you like. However, the only place I've found around here is an Associated on Avenue J, and I've only been there on Fridays so far. They put out huge amounts of produce (I'd estimate 1000 pounds last night). It's easier to dumpster dive in Manhattan because there are so many stores that it's easy to do a pretty comprehensive "grocery shop" in just one neighborhood.
Sure. Maybe the 3 of us can iChat. My ID is lizard7bee.
I'd be interested in gardening/farming in someone else's yard. I was thinking of joining a community garden in Prospect Heights, but couldn't find any contact info for them. Looks like they might need someone to launch a website or even a blogger site for them.
Peter, I hear you are interested in seeing my knives. I presume you have seen my web page. If not go to stone soup cutlery. Then call 718 421 1814 or email maikelstonesoup@hotmail.com and tell me what you want. If i have it in stock then it's just a question of us haggling - I warn you I'm a pushover- if not it means putting in an order which means a slight delay... I am still looking for a suitable workspace. I have one lead, we'll know in a couple of days. Look forward to seeing you, we missed you the other day. Happy new year. maikel
Sorry about the late response-- so glad you found someone, and hope it's working out well. Yes, definitely think of us as backup.
Are you coming to our place next Sunday? Hope so! :)
Madeline
Skip's photo is fine-- wouldn't dream of deleting!

Yep, between Maikel and I, it's do-able, and $15 x 5 hopefully will not break the bank for you and will compensate for one or the other of us needing to be in the neighborhood every weekday at noon. My phone number is 917-538-7505; give me a call. We should both come over and meet Skip. Might make sense for you and us to try it for a month, see if everyone's still happy.
Hi Peter!
Being a cat person, I don't deal with the same issues-- when I go away there are neighbors down the hall who will come in and feed my cats, but dogs need more, clearly.
I don't know any dog walkers in the neighborhood, nor people looking specifically for cat tending, something that was relatively easy to find where I lived before (central Village). One thing I've noticed here, to my relief, is that if people of color and/or immigrants are in the elevator of my building, it's because they are my neighbors, rather than my neighbors' housekeepers or dog walkers.
Did you say exactly where you live? Also, are you looking for Monday thru Friday? Once a day or twice a day? I ask because I'm an animal lover in general and if you're really close by I might be able to help at least a few days a week.
Best,
Madeline
